Nichiren Daishonin states in attaining Buddhahood
If you wish to free yourself from the sufferings of birth and death
you have endured through eternity and attain supreme enlightenment
in this lifetime, you must awaken to the mystic truth which has
always been within your life. This truth is Myoho-renge-kyo. Chanting
Myoho-renge-kyo will therefore enable you to grasp the mystic truth
within you. Myoho-renge-kyo is the king of sutras, flawless in both
letter and principle. Its words are the reality of life, and the
reality of life is the Mystic Law (Myoho). It is called the Mystic
Law because it explains the mutually inclusive relationship of life
and all phenomena. That is why this sutra is the wisdom of all Buddhas.
Life at each moment encompasses both body and spirit and both self
and environment of all sentient beings in every condition of life,
as well as insentient beings - plants, sky and earth, on down to
the most minute particles of dust.
The culmination of the Buddha's enlightenment was the expression
of Ichinen Sanzen which reflects the profound reflection between
mind and body, environment and society. Ichinen Sanzen expresses
the reality that the life of the human being reaches out into the
environment and is inextricably connected with all phenomenal reality.
This reality is also coextensive with the universe and the Gohonzon
which is the object of worship for observing the mind expresses
the enlightenment of the Buddha from time without beginning. This
literally means that the jewel of enlightenment shines into our
infinite lives from time without beginning and that our lives therefore
encompass the universe of past present and future.
This ties up with the concept of the holographic universe and the
implicit order expressed by Dr David Bohm who was a friend and colleague
of Einstein.
The concept of a holographic universe, means that every bit of
information possesses the whole. The reason that everything connects
faster than light, is because at a deeper level of reality is everything
is all one. This means that everything is one energy manifesting
in an infinite diversity.
This one energy can be translated as the Mystic Law, from which
everything manifests. The Mystic Law is none other than Nam Myoho
Renge Kyo and its crystallization as the Gohonzon.
In the Lotus Sutra the universe does not begin at a big bang it
is made quite clear that the universe is fathomless and infinite.
Indeed according to Dr David Bohm the universe does not exist in
and of itself but is the step child of something far vaster and
more ineffable. The implicit order can be translated as a blueprint
or a state of realized consciousness within all the possibilities
that it can create it creates the material reality that we see around
us by collapsing the collective vision of life into a diversity
of creativity. By being children of the universe and children of
the Buddha within our individual and collective consciousness we
share the birthright of co-creation as the universe become self
reflective in our own consciousness. The creative reality as expressed
in Ichinen Sanzen contains every subatomic particle that has been
or will be. It contains all quasars, Shakespeare, the double helix,
the galaxies, and the infinite stages of the evolution of humanity.
This new vision of reality is called quantum reality in fact it
was established by Nichiren Daishonin in 1253 when he chanted Nam
Myoho Renge Kyo for the first time.
