To Save The World we need new ways of thinking and creative ideas. We need to step out of the conventional. We need networking and discussion amongst all levels of society and a bringing together of people from all aspects of society including representatives of Government, Universities, Business and Industry, Medicine and the Military and especially the ordinary person in order that we may seek for innovative solutions. We need new science, new understanding of the Universe, and new understanding of the nature of life and death and to celebrate the infinite potential of the Human Mind. We need to be open and have openness of dialogue.

The Ten Commandments for a Sustainable Peaceful Civilization
7 Billion Others
In 2003, after The Earth seen from the Sky, Yann Arthus-Bertrand, with Sybille d’Orgeval and Baptiste Rouget-Luchaire, launched the 7 billion Others project. 6,000 interviews were filmed in 84 countries by about twenty directors who went in search of the Others. From a Brazilian fisherman to a Chinese shopkeeper, from a German performer to an Afghan farmer, all answered the same questions about their fears, dreams, ordeals, hopes: What have you learnt from your parents? What do you want to pass on to your children? What difficult circumstances have you been through? What does love mean to you?

The global revolution in human consciousness

Without a global revolution in the sphere of human consciousness, nothing will change for the better in the sphere of our being as humans, and the catastrophe toward which this world is headed -be it ecological, social, demographic or a general breakdown of civilization - will be unavoidable. If we are no longer threatened by world war or by the danger that the absurd mountains of accumulated nuclear weapons might blow up the world, this does not mean that we have definitively won. We are, in fact, far from the final victory. Excerpt Vaclav Havel's address to the US Congress, 21 February 1990.

More drugs whose dangerous risks emerged only after Big Pharma made its money
In recent years, Hollywood has been perturbed by the “tweet factor.” If a movie is a dog, people leaving the theater tweet other people that it is a dog and it fails at the box office. Unfortunately, when a prescription drug is a dog that causes risky side effects, the word often doesn’t get out for years, allowing Big Pharma to make money anyway.
Natural Vitamin E Prevents, Reverses Lung Cancer
Yet another media hatchet job on vitamin E is, predictably, getting lots of attention.
American men worried about their low-T?
It took the New York Times to take a look at a serious symptom befalling men all over the United States in the last few decades. Men’s average testosterone levels have been dropping, it noted, by at least 1 percent a year, according to a 2006 study in The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism.
Clamping Down on Nutritional Information
The government of the Netherlands, one of 27 European Union countries, continues to clamp down on alternative medicine. The Netherlands Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA, http://www.vwa.nl/english) has the tools in place to restrict communication of information about the beneficial effects of food and nutrients to promote health and effectively curb disease. And, most importantly, this bureaucracy makes all decisions as to how strict the rules are applied.
When President Bill Clinton announced in 2000 that Craig Venter and Dr. Francis Collins of the National Human Genome Research Institute had succeeded in mapping the human genome, he solemnly declared that the discovery would “revolutionize” the treatment of virtually all human diseases.

But after five years of Obama in the White House, Americans should know by now that he was lip-syncing the words.

People have been misinformed about the tragedy at Fukushima and its consequences. There is a continuing cover up, the reactors have not been stabilized, and radiation continues to be released.

The Medicine Of Light

The medicine of light is preempted on the understanding that consciousness is the primary phenonemon in the universe and that light is the basis of creation. Superluminal light, or the basic quanta or photons for the common ground of reality on which the universe exists allows for the intersection of many energetic informational spectra. The subatomic world of electrons, protons and neutrons are viewed as patterns of vibrational spectra. Higher consciousness is connected with the embodiment of light as the basic epigenetic patterning on which our body is based and which influences the overall functioning of our body. In fact the human body is purely an embodiment of several energy vehicles and because of this has a multi dimensional subtle anatomy. We are in fact living conduits to the stars, galaxies and cosmos.

(via Rethnking Schools)The 50th anniversary of the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom this past summer produced some brilliant commentary about the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. One of the sharpest of these was a short essay that Michelle Alexander, author of The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness, posted to her Facebook page.

The instinct of the media is to concentrate only on dramatic events, e.g. delivering warfare as an incident full of drama and excitement. Media never really covers a conflict in entirety. It does not seek to pursue or analyse the situation in any depth, and news becomes just a passing fancy, rather than an ability to open eyes or open hearts. We are censored from information. Just as transnational companies become few and powerful, there are only several powerful news agencies in the world, which give information which is often politically or system-biased.

by Michael Ellis

Our New Paradigm Journal aims to contribute towards the development of a culture which will bring about the integration of human life with nature in order to develop a more sustainable lifestyle. It places stress on equity, justice, preservation of family and a practical action plan that goes beyond mere theory. Global approaches are essential so that humanity marches in unity towards its goals. The main theme of this special feature is the contribution to the creation of of a sustainable future for all.

Environment and Resources - The Erosion of Biodiversity

Human beings have already changed the environment of the planet radically and have caused many other bio-extinctions of other species. If current trends continue the picture will get worse. The projected extra six billion people in the next hundred years, predicted for 2020 would need more room to live and grow food. If there are more of us, there is less room for plants and animals. There is less room for the tropical rainforests and the planetary biodiversity of species. Human beings are causing extinctions at 100-10,000 times the natural rate. This is the greatest way of extinction since the end of the cretaceous period 65 million years ago when the dinosaurs were annihilated...read more >

Beijing air pollution reaches crisis levels; can China survive its toxic environment?

Moving beyond the corporate vision of sustainability.
Most market-based solutions necessitate putting a monetary value on nature, which plays into the paradigm of commercialisation: the value of the natural world is reduced to its potential for generating financial returns. Such solutions adhere to the logic of a neoliberal economic model that continues to dominate mainstream policy discourse even despite its role in precipitating the global financial crisis in 2008.
Here’s cold and then there’s the Polar Vortex.
This just isn’t cold. It’s COOOLLL DAMN IT, down to the bones, the muscles and the mind. You just begin to feel everything congealing like snow to ice. It’s what explorers of the arctic must feel trekking along some tundra. It’s what I feel walking Broadway or West End Avenues, where they meet, like the Polar and Vortex have met, married and reached their hot ice, smoking hands inside your Eddie Bauer down parka. Plus The North Face wool sweater zipped to your chin, the Eddie Bauer shirt, the Jerzis long-sleeve T-shirt, up and through the down hood, wool cap and back down to the leather wool-lined gloves. Unfortunately, the Mid-West is getting smacked around by both hands, the wind and cold of the Polar Vortex, too.

Economics and Goverment - The Global Crisis In Human Relationships

Globalisation on the free trade model of the neo-liberal Washington consensus economics is colliding with local cultures natural economic sovereignty, social customs and values, as well as traditional agriculture, indigenous rights and the protection of biodiversity and the environment. The fundamental issue is the very economic model underlying today's Globalisation of technology, trades and markets. The critics from many diverse perspectives agree that free trade doesn't account for social and environmental costs and cultural disruption in the price in traded goods and services will continue to cause more harm than good. The World Bank, the IMF, the US Government and the WTO still refuse to recalculate prices and microeconomic indicators including the GDP to include these social and environmental costs, which contribute towards the deterioration of human life. Civil society movement groups throughout the world are committed to the idea of preserving human identity and enriching biological and cultural diversity.

The traditional model of "homo economicus" - that ever-rational individual, always maximizing his self-interest in competition with others is now acknowledged as unrealistic. It is a fear and scarcity model based on the early reptilian brain and the territoriality of our primitive past .This bleak model of human behavior at the heart of economics is not only dismal - but increasingly proven wrong by many other scientists and much recent research by neuroscientists, microbiologists, psychologists, anthropologists and yes, game theorists. This is why many recent Bank of Sweden Economics prizes have gone to scientists studying human behavior beyond the economics profession, from psychologists to game theorists John Harsonyi, John Nash and Reinhard Selten in 1994.

Charles Darwin's original notebooks, shows that Darwin was more interested in the human capacity to bond and trust as factors in Human Success. A chorus of scientists are now calling for the Nobel Prize in Economics to be abolished... read more >

A state of war
The ruling class or those who own this country, with the help of our duly elected officials, have declared war on working folks. How else can one explain their resistance to raising the minimum wage, their attack on a mediocre health care program (Obamacare) which clearly does not solve the problem of affordable health care insurance for all our citizens, their resistance to extending the unemployment insurance necessary for families to survive during these hard times, their desire to destroy the safety net that we have all benefitted from (social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid), their push to privatize education, prisons, and the military so that their friends can add millions of dollars to their already exorbitant wealth?
Paranoia of the Plutocrats
Rising inequality has obvious economic costs: stagnant wages despite rising productivity, rising debt that makes us more vulnerable to financial crisis. It also has big social and human costs. There is, for example, strong evidence that high inequality leads to worse health -REF1 and higher mortality.

A coming Chinese bust?
China’s debt fuelled investment boom could be about to bust. If it did it would make the west’s recent downturn look like a picnic. At that time, China came to the rescue; now, western economies are not sufficiently robust to return the favour. China’s trade and investment overseas would create a massive domino effect.

ONE CRUCIAL aspect of the rising disaffection with globalization is the lack of citizen participation in the global institutions that shape people's daily lives. This public frustration is deeper and broader than the recent street demonstrations in Seattle and Prague. Social commentators and leaders of citizens' and intergovernmental organizations are increasingly taking heed. "A human being is part of the whole called by us universe , a part limited in time and space. We experience ourselves, our thoughts and feelings as something separate from the rest. A kind of optical delusion of consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from the prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty...We shall require a substantially new manner of thinking if mankind is to survive."

The New Paradigm calls for spiritual, ecological and holistic worldviews, derived from perceptions of connectedness and interdependence. There is a need to restore the balance between the masculine and feminine principles and between humanity and nature, that we may recreate a sense of wholeness. The new era needs to use the creative power of the people by respecting the common ground of humanity, understanding the interconnectedness of all life, enhancing female and male creativity and opening the global heart of humankind. The new physics which underlies our understanding of the world shows that the universe is a biological self referential field of energy and intelligence. We are indeed oneness.

Renaissance of consciousness and thinking

The words of wise leaders have cautioned us about the need for a fundamental shift in thinking and perception. Former Czech President Vaçlav Havel and Albert Einstein are two such figures. Havel, in his February 1990 address to the United States Congress, spoke of the "antiquated straitjacket of the bipolar view of the world," and stressed that "without a global revolution in the sphere of human consciousness, nothing will change for the better in the sphere of our being as humans. " Einstein warned repeatedly that without a fundamental change in human thinking, our species would drift toward ultimate catastrophe... read more >

They talk to us as brothers and sisters in the language of the heart in order to alert us to the coming changes and preparation of the creation of the contact culture. The message heralds a unity of science and spirituality that acknowledges our cosmic heritage and birthright of the divine spark that unities all races and life forms, working unselfishly in a higher nature not in violation of our life space but to herald a future of hope in outer and innerspace.
